Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. Her early Broadway parts are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning director as well as actors and producers throughout her career. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently filming on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream on Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return will take place in the month of March 2023, when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS successful comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. It also had Ben Vereen and Elizondo. Additional Broadway performances include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
